Design of Experiments

Like the Nessie game in LSS I, also DOEs are much fun. This time you will learn about Design of Experiments by throwing launching catapults.

Fun with the catapults

Also this learning augmentation (aka game) is definitely and intentionally not from your core business area.

Your learning objectives

Here we can easily identify Inputs as well as Outputs and Noise variables. There are so many inputs that you can hardly handle them in a full factorial design. What a great opportunity to learn about full and factorial designs, experience how to reduce the number of factors based on previous knowledge perform explorative experiments and risk assessments; and many more!

In this class you wil hear and experience about

The setting

This training is intended for groups of 3-5 participants each. We can efficiently host up to 3 groups at once. The course comprises a theoretical introduction into the DOE basics, full and fractional designs and also practical DOE training. You will perform preliminary trials, sort out the most important factors, design your experiments and perform the necessary runs. In the end you will be able to set up an equation for your key outputs and how they relate to the main factors and their interactions. Then comes the challenge: Try to hit a target in a given distance. You have three shots! Time requirement for this course is approximately 1.5 days including lunch and coffee breaks to allow discussions and questions of the participants. While having lots of fun, you will have aquired lots of experience around setting up, performing and evaluating DOEs.
