3D Design with OpenSCAD

OpenSCAD is a free software package for the creation of 3D CAD objects and runs on Linux/UNIX, MS Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

Unlike most other 3D CAD packages, creating objects is done by "programming" additions, subtractions or intersectiond of 2D or 3D primitives (squares, cubes, circles, spheres) rather than drawing on the graphical user interface. It does have a great graphical interface, but just for display, not for editing objects. Although, this seems to be a bit unusual at first (like it or hate it), it is pretty fast to learn, very systematic and can easily be used to parametrize the models.
